NHP Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Sparks

Posted: Updated:

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a vehicle accident that killed a pedestrian on South McCarran and Nichols Blvds. in Sparks Wednesday night.

Troopers say a 38-year-old man was walking on McCarran crossing at Nichols when he was hit around 7pm.

Troopers say a gray Ford Explorer driven by 42-year-old Sean Bardin of Sparks was heading south on McCarran when he hit the pedestrian. They say the crossing signal timer was counting down and he was trying to cross the road in time, but they say the timer ran out and oncoming traffic was given the green light. Troopers say because of the victim's dark clothing, oncoming drivers likely did not see him.

Troopers say Bardin is cooperating with the investigation.

The victim died on scene.

If you know anything that could help investigators call the Nevada Highway Patrol at 689-4661.
