Law Enforcement to Patrol Area Roadways, Highways Sunday

Posted: Updated:

Local law enforcement officers are getting ready to step up enforcement ahead of the Super Bowl this weekend.

Today through Sunday more than 20 law enforcement agencies across Nevada will be taking part in Joining Forces campaign putting patrols on the street to catch impaired drivers who may be driving home after watching the game.

Troopers say they want people to enjoy the game, but ask that everyone have a plan to celebrate safely, like a reserved hotel room or a designated sober driver.

The following safety tips and advisories are provided to prevent an alcohol-related crash or arrest from occurring:

  • Refrain from drinking alcohol whenever you intend on driving a motor vehicle
Designate a safe and sober driver; not the person in your group who has consumed the least amount of alcohol
Utilize public transportation such as a taxi-cab or bus to provide a safe ride to your destination

For more on the joining forces campaign this weekend, stay tuned for Channel 2 News at 11pm, where we'll speak to Nevada Highway Patrol officials about the extra enforcement.
