Kuzanek Announces Run for Washoe County Sheriff

Posted: Updated:

Undersheriff Tim Kuzanek officially announced Tuesday morning that he is running for sheriff of Washoe County.

Kuzanek made the announcement at the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows building on Ninth Street in Reno.

He says he wants to focus on violent offenders, while reducing domestic violence and cyber crimes.

Kuzanek says he's worked almost every job at the office and his experience backs him up.

"I've learned over the years how to apply that experience and I know that I can do that and further reduce crime going forward."

You'll recall Washoe County Sheriff Mike Haley announced earlier this month that he will not be running for a third term in the upcoming election.

"Tim is experienced in all areas of law enforcement and I think he is exceptionally well-qualified to be our next Sheriff," says Haley. "His dedication to public service, his leadership and his core values, make him the ideal candidate for the position. I am very proud to endorse Tim Kuzanek."

Kuzanek is a graduate of the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute's Administrative Officers Course and the Police Executive Leadership Program where he was named as a "Dean's Scholar" by the Department of Justice Administration, College of Arts and Science, University of Louisville.
