Carson City Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man they say broke into a home on Monday night and then stole firearms from the residence.

Deputies say the burglary happened in the 500 block of Roundup Road in Carson City. They say the homeowner came home to see a burglary in progress, and that's when the suspect, 32-year-old Brandon Peart threatened the unidentified homeowner then ran away with unknown number of guns.

Soon after deputies found a vehicle matching the description, but when they stopped Peart, they say he sped off along the Carson River until the car crashed near the 6000 block of Rio Vista. Peart then ran off until authorities lost sight of him up a mountainside.

Around 2pm on Tuesday, deputies say a resident reported a suspicious man in the area. Peart was questioned, then arrested.

Deputies say the vehicle involved in the pursuit is registered to Peart's mother.

Peart was booked into the Carson City Jail on a charge of felony eluding. His bail was set at $25,000.

The burglary incident, along with a second burglary reported at the 4000 block of Quinn Road, remains under investigation.

While the burglary investigation remains open, the Carson City Sheriff's Office says it has no reason to believe there is any ongoing threat to area residents.
