Gang Related Shooting in Fernley

Posted: Updated:

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office reports that one person has been hospitalized after a gang related shooting outside of a Fernley home early Sunday, January 26th.

Law enforcement officials say that deputies were called to a residence on 6th street at around 12:10 a.m. on a report of a shooting. They say there had been a party inside the home, where rival gang members began to fight. The fight moved outside the house and resulted in one person being shot. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle before deputies arrived.

The victim was transported to a hospital in Reno, to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. One adult woman from the residence was also transported to the hospital for alcohol intoxication. Investigators say alcohol also appears to be a factor in the shooting.

Lyon County Sheriff's Detectives are still investigating this crime and are asking anyone with information to report, call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
