Reno Police Seek Info on Stead Gas Station Armed Robberies

Posted: Updated:

Reno police are investigating a pair of armed robberies at the same Stead gas station that happened two nights in a row.

They say two men robbed the McCarran Mart, which is also a Sinclair gas station, Wednesday night and then three men robbed the same store Thursday night. Police believe the two crimes may be connected.

They say just after 8:30pm, two men walked into the store and grabbed beer and cigarettes. When the clerk asked the pair to pay, one of the suspects showed a gun and refused. The two are described as black men, in their late teens to early 20's, with average builds.

Police say Thursday night, two men with a similar description entered the store but with a third man. The third man is described as a white man, also in his late teens to early 20's with an average build. Police say one of them had a gun and another had a knife. The trio stole merchandise and cash from the register.

Police say the two armed robberies are similar, but are not certain they are connected.
