New Downtown Casino Comes to Life; Siri's to Open in April

Posted: Updated:

For the first time in more than a decade a new casino is going up in downtown Reno. The CalNeva is expanding its gaming.

They began the renovation work on what will be Siri's Casino on North Virginia Street about a week ago. They hope to have Siri's Casino open in early April.

It's created 65 construction jobs so far and they hope to employ between 30 and 50 employees at the casino when it's open.

They say it will compliment the rooms being renovated at Whitney Peak next door.

And they say it's the right time to expand their business. "We've had a decent January and we're seeing an uptick in business in the past few months so hopefully it is the perfect time for a new casino," says CalNeva CEO Phil Kenny.

They are hoping to open in early April, which would coincide with the 52nd anniversary of the CalNeva.
