TEDx Teen's Talk Takes Off on YouTube

Posted: Updated:

Logan LaPlante has only watched his TEDx talk at the University of Nevada once. Even though millions of people have. "I think I'm the third most watched TEDx talk out of 36,000."

In fact, when Logan applied to be a speaker, he was just happy he made the cut. "I wanted to get more into public speaking and thankfully I made it out of the 80 people and I was like 'wow, this is going to be a really cool school project.'"

This "school project" has gone viral on the internet and might just turn into a career for this Lake Tahoe teenager. After hitting almost 4 million views of his talk on YouTube, he's now in demand as a public speaker. "I'm starting to get contacted by many people and I'm having to turn down a lot of stuff, because my inbox is like boom, boom, boom, boom and I never thought that would happen."

Logan is home schooled in a program he calls hack schooling. That's what his talk is all about. I caught up with him at Moment Skis in Sparks, where he spends time learning the design of skis, graphics, and marketing. It's a creative way of going to school that's now being talked about all across the world thanks to this little stage at the University of Nevada.

Then this Friday is the second TEDx talk at the University of Nevada. It's sold out, but there is a live stream of the event which runs from 8am to 5pm.

Here's the link to watch it live:
