Police say a 17-year-old boy faces an attempted murder charge after he strangled his younger sister in Sparks on Monday.

Police say around 10am, they were called to the 4000 block of Whispering Wind Court on a report of a violent fight between Evan Brown and his 14-year-old sister.

While there, officers say they learned that Brown had tried to strangle his sister on two occasions.

Police arrested Brown and transported him to Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center, but due to the nature of the charges, they say he was later transferred to Washoe County Jail.

Brown also faces a domestic battery by strangulation charge. His bail is set at $15,000.
