One Dead, One Injured After Accident on N. Virginia Street

Posted: Updated:

An investigation is underway after police say a driver hit a man walking on North Virginia Street near Moraine Way late Monday night.

Reno police say around 10pm a 36-year-old Reno man was crossing North Virginia east to west when he was hit by a northbound 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by a 23-year-old Reno man.

Reno Police tell us say the victim was in a crosswalk, but was wearing dark clothing and the area was not well lit. They also say when the man was hit, he hit the windshield and went over the car then became trapped under the Eclipse and was dragged for an unknown distance.

The victim died at the scene.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Police say the unidentified driver is cooperating with the investigation. They say at this time it does not appear that speeding and alcohol are factors in the crash.
