The Reno Bighorns were defeated by the Los Angeles D-Fenders Friday night 131-118.
Reno started strong with Sacramento King's assignment player, Ray McCallum leading the Bighorns with 6 points. Bryan Davis also added 5 points and 4 rebounds in the first quarter. The D-Fenders' Terrence Williams and Brandon Costner couldn't be stopped in the first with each of them tallying 9 points.
Going into the second quarter, the Bighorns trailed by 5 (29-24). There were three times the two teams were tied in the second quarter, but with under a minute remaining KC Rivers had a steal and a basket to give the Bighorns the lead. LA followed up with a basket and three free throws. Going into the half the D-Fenders led 65-63. In the first half Brandon Heath had 13 points, Ray McCallum had 10 and Trent Lockett added another 8.
Rivers was hot in the third helping the Bighorns gain the lead three times including shooting 3-4 from the charity stripe. Williams and James Southerland each had 6 points for the D-Fenders.
During the final quarter of the game, the D-Fenders went on a 7-2 run giving them the largest lead of the game (12). LA dominated from the field outscoring 61.9% to 37.5% and also shot 100.0% from the line in the fourth quarter.
Dequan Jones led the Bighorns with 22 points while five other Reno players scored in double figures. Rivers and McCallum each had 18 points. Mo Charlo had a notable 10 points and 7 rebounds and Bryan Davis had 9 points and 9 rebounds.
The D-Fenders were led by Terrence Williams with 28 points and 8 assists. Four other players scored in double figures, including James Southerland with 25 points and 9 rebounds.
The Bighorns next home game is Saturday, January 18th versus the Bakersfield Jam at 7pm at the Reno Events Center
