Area High School Seniors Compete to Win New Honda

Posted: Updated:

More than 500 high school seniors in Washoe County are eligible to win a free car at the end of the school year.

"Must Be Present to Win" is an annual contest where one local senior with perfect attendance is given a brand new car by Bill Pearce Courtesy Honda.

Organizers say this year's competition is tough with 560 students currently in the running, or roughly 13% of all local high school seniors with perfect attendance so far this year.

Any student who keeps that perfect record through the spring semester will be entered in the car raffle.

Organizers say they hold the event because it's a good way to inspire our students to work hard and graduate. "Attendance was one of the highest variables in achievement of graduation from high school," says Sandy Raffealli.

The raffle drawing will take place in June.
