KTMB Says 10,000+ Christmas Trees Collected for Recycling Program

Posted: Updated:

Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful says it collected more than 10,000 Christmas trees for this year's 23rd annual recycling program.

The trees were collected at three drop-off locations in Washoe County. Recycled trees are chipped into mulch, and used year-round for weed- and erosion-abatement projects.

If residents are interested in obtaining mulch, they can take what they need at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park's west entrance. For more information about recycling in the Truckee Meadows, and a listing of where to recycle household and other items, residents can visit www.ktmb.org/recycle.

Since 2003, KTMB says more than 100,000 trees have been recycled.

If you still have a tree for recycle, it says you can take it to RT Donovan or Full Circle Compost.
