Flu Concerns on University of Nevada Campus

Posted: Updated:

The University of Nevada gets back to school this week, and school officials are concerned about increasing cases of flu on campus.

"We're a little bit concerned with the beginning of the new semester as students are going back to school that we'll see more just the closeness in classroom situations. Being indoors a lot can certainly share those viruses," says Student Health Center Medical Director Cheryl Hug-English.

Officials with the student health center say this strain of the H1N1 flu is more likely to affect college students and people in their 30s and 40s, and can become severe in some cases.

They're encouraging people to get vaccinated against the flu, and also take precautions like washing your hands often and practicing good hygiene.
