San Francisco 49ers Gear Sell Well in Northern Nevada

Posted: Updated:

San Francisco 49ers gear is flying off the shelves at local sporting goods stores, as fans gear up for Sunday's NFC championship game. Ed Sayed, a department manager at Scheels in Sparks, says customers are asking for one particular item. "They want to know where our (Colin) Kaepernick jerseys are before they say 'Where's your 49er gear?'" Sayed has been a 49ers fan for 65 years. "I saw my first game in 1949, a year before they joined the NFL," he said.

It's not just northern Nevadans who want Kaepernick gear. Colin Kaepernick's jersey was the top selling NFL jersey for six months in 2013.

We also found Seahawks fans looking for gear at Scheels. Valerie Greene lives in Reno, but her heart is with the Seattle Seahawks. She's been to games in Seattle and says fans will challenge the 49ers with their noise. "It's so loud. You can't even think. Yes, your head's shaking, you're standing the entire time, but it's super fun," she said.

The winners of Sunday's NFC and AFC championship games will play in the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 2nd.
