Charter Cable Changeover

Posted: Updated:

If you are a Charter cable customer you are in for some changes over the next month.

Charter is changing its analog signal to a completely digital signal. They say the wider broadband width will allow them to offer more content and at a higher quality.

"All customers will be upgraded to digital service. It provides so many more options. Customers will get more channels and the video and audio quality will be clearer. And there will be video on demand," said Jack Hardy, Manager of Communications for Charter.

The changeover will take the entire month of February. The push for the changeover is really ramping this week with local direct mailer and television messages.

They are asking customers to come in to their Charter Stores and pick up the equipment they will need.

"We have receiver boxes for the TV's depending on which kind you have," says Hardy. "There are boxes for the old analog TVs, for newer flat screen digital televisions and for DVRs. We just need to know what kind of equipment you have and we'll be giving the boxes to most of our customers for free."

He adds that the boxes will be provided for about 12 months and then in a year they will be charging customers $6.99 for each box. And you'll need a separate set up box for each television.

Their analog signal will go dark in March.
