Justice Department is Venue for Obama NSA Speech

Posted: Updated:

The White House says President Barack Obama will travel to the Justice Department to announce the results of his review of National Security Agency surveillance programs.

It was previously announced that Obama would deliver the speech on Friday.

Obama has indicated he is open to significant changes to U.S. surveillance programs. He is expected to announce curbs on U.S. spying on foreign leaders. He's also giving serious consideration to a plan to strip the NSA of its ability to store telephone record data on from millions of Americans.

Obama has been meeting with lawmakers, intelligence officials and executives from technology companies and privacy groups as he considers more than 40 recommendations from a presidential panel that proposed broad changes to the NSA's powers.   (AP)
