The Regional Transportation Commission will host an Open House on Tuesday, Jan. 14th at the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm to present the public input received for potential transportation improvements for the Virginia Street corridor and discuss the next phase for the study. A formal presentation will be given at 5:30 p.m.

The RTC began the study in January 2013 to conduct a multimodal (pedestrian, automobile, bicycle and transit) analysis for potential transportation improvements on Virginia Street from North McCarran Boulevard to the Mt. Rose Highway. It will also look at improvement opportunities along the corridor with regard to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). When completed, the plan will identify short- and long-term improvements and develop a funding and implementation strategy. "The RTC has received extensive input from the community, including businesses, residents and other interested stakeholders. We're looking forward to the next phase and continued public participation," said Amy Cummings, RTC Director of Planning. The study is being conducted in partnership with the City of Reno and UNR.

The public is invited to attend to meet with the project team, discuss the results and provide comments. For more information visit www.rtcwashoe.com and click on HOT TOPICS / Virginia Street Corridor Study.
