Burning Man Announces 2014 theme, ticket information

Posted: Updated:

Burning Man has released information regarding this year's theme and ticket sales.

Like last year, the art festival will hold several sales through the next few months starting with a pre-sale later this month. Three-thousand tickets will go for $650.

The largest ticket sale will take place on February 26th. About 38,000 tickets will go for $380 each (plus applicable fees), but in order to be eligible to buy tickets you must pre-register. Tickets will go on sale on a first-come, first serve basis.

Organizers also announced on Wednesday that a vehicle pass will be required for every vehicle entering Black Rock City to help with traffic issues. The 35,000 vehicle passes will go for $40 each, plus applicable fees.

This year's theme is 'Caravansary.' On its website, Burning Man explains 'for countless centuries, travelers along the Silk Route crossed paths in caravansaries, a network of oases and sanctuaries that dotted the 4,000-mile road from Europe to East Asia. These bustling caravan stops offered more than just shelter from the desert wilderness; they were vital centers of cultural exchange, bringing together traders, pilgrims, monks, nomads, traveling entertainers, and wild-eyed adventurers from all points of the compass to share their stories around a common fire.'

This year's Burning Man festival, located north of Reno near Gerlach, start August 25th.
