Police See Increase in Vehicle Burglaries at Fitness Centers

Posted: Updated:

Reno police say they've seen an increase in vehicle burglaries at area fitness centers since the start of the New Year.

Police say the burglaries occur in the early morning hours between 3am-8am at no identified specific location.

They say suspects target vehicles with valuables left in plain sight such as wallets and purses, often smashing windows to steal items and causing additional damage to the victim's vehicles.

Police encourage residents to take all valuables with them whenever possible, utilize fitness center locker rooms, or just leave items at home. If something must be kept in your vehicle, hide items out of sight, lock your car and park in well lit areas. Also, be aware of your surroundings.

They also say to report all suspicious activity to the fitness center and to law enforcement as soon as possible.

If you have any information on these burglaries, you're urged to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411 or go online to www.secretwitness.com. Your information will remain anonymous and you could be eligible for a reward.
