City of Reno Launches New Mobile App

The City of Reno is launching a new mobile phone app that will allow you to report everything from potholes to graffiti. Digital experts have also re-worked the city's www.Reno.gov website to make it more user-friendly.

City of Reno Communications Director, Deanna Gescheider says the city is reaching out to a broader group of citizens. "It's part of a priority that the council identified to enhance communication and community engagement. We want to reach the silent majority. In the past you had to come to a very long meeting to participate in your local government," she said. City officials say you can now watch those meetings on your phone.

The City has also developed a mobile app to make it easier to connect people with their local government officials. "A lot more people are doing more with their phones, so it's important for us to be able to communicate with people in all different manners," said Gescheider. The new mobile app is compatible with most major devices, including iPad, iPhone, Android and Blackberry. The new website has tourism information and features photos of northern Nevada taken by residents. New tabs let you search for information on starting a new business or even book a room in Lake Tahoe, Sparks or Reno.
