Family members say a Douglas County woman was killed after colliding with a snowboarder and being knocked into a tree while skiing at Heavenly Resort.

An obituary in the Cape Cod Times says 56-year-old Dana Tuttle was skiing at the Lake Tahoe resort with her husband, Gary, on Dec. 21 when the accident happened.

A Heavenly spokeswoman says the ski patrol responded that morning around 10:30 a.m. and found the woman unresponsive.

Tuttle was flown to a hospital in Reno where according to the family she died the next day after being taken off life support.

Heavenly in a statement says she was not wearing a helmet.

Tuttle was born in Boston and attended the University of Nevada, Reno. She worked as an accountant for the state of Nevada.  (AP)
