Orders From Amazon.com Now Taxed in Nevada

Posted: Updated:

Online shoppers in Nevada are paying a little bit more for orders on Amazon.com this year.

As of January 1st, purchases of physical items on amazon.com have an added sales tax for Nevadans. The rate is based on your county--so for those in Washoe, that's just over 7.7%.

Things like digital downloads are not taxed.

Amazon now collects sales tax in 19 states, including California and Arizona.

Lawmakers say states lost more than $23 billion in revenue in 2012, by not collecting tax for online sales.
