Hundreds of people packed a south Reno church last month to honor a well-liked doctor who was killed in a shooting on the Renown Regional Medical Center campus.
A celebration of life was held for Dr. Charles 'Garo' Gholdoian on December 29th at the South Reno Methodist Church, which was filled beyond capacity as friends and family paid their final respects.
We were asked to leave our cameras outside the church. But inside, Nicholas Gholdoian, played two songs on the piano, honoring his father's deep love of music. Daughter Sophia told of the laughter and fun moments she shared with her dad.
Other mourners shared their memories and thoughts on RGJ's online guest book for the Gholdoian family. There are pages and pages of entries.
Here we share a few with you-
From a friend in Michigan:
"Thank you, Garo, for all the good you brought to the world, and the love and kindness you shared with everyone. Thank you for being such an amazing friend..."
and from one of his patients in Reno:
"We are so honored today to celebrate the life of this great man. Thank you for taking care of me for the last 9 years."
Instead of flowers, people were urged to make donations to the Dr. Gholdoian Memorial Fund that's set up through Wells Fargo Bank.
