NHP is releasing more information on Thursday's accident that killed a 5-year-old Fernley girl. A driver was arrested on DUI in connection with the incident.

The Lyon County Sheriff's office says it happened on the 200 block of 7th street in Fernley around 4pm Thursday.

Troopers say 5-year-old Alysia Simper was riding her tricycle on the sidewalk with a friend and her grandmother. When her friend fell off the scooter, her grandmother stopped to help the friend and that's when authorities say 53-year-old Patricia Anderson pulled out her driveway and backed up over a Simper a short distance away.

Simper died on scene.

Anderson was arrested for felony DUI causing death and is being held on $40,115 bail at Lyon County Detention Facility.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the accident while the Lyon County Sheriff's Office is looking into the girl's death and the driver's arrest.

If you have any information on this accident, you are asked to report it to Nevada Highway Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) at (775) 689-4614.
