Carson City Sheriff's Office Identifies Shooting Victims

Posted: Updated:

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has identified the victims in Saturday's fatal shooting.

The deceased father was identified as 52-year-old Guy Perry and the recovering victim has been identified as 19-year-old Cassandra Perry.

Both were shot by 22-year old Michael Brentlinger early on Saturday, December 28th in Carson City. Investigators say Brentlinger used to live with Cassandra Perry, and broke into her home at around 6 a.m. She heard him entering, and called her father for protection. When Guy Perry arrived, Brentlinger shot him in the torso, and shot Cassandra in the head. Guy Perry was killed, but Cassandra is expected to fully recover from her wounds. Sheriff's Detectives have determined the weapon used was a stolen .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.

Cassandra Perry's brother, Kyle Perry, had been asleep in a second bedroom. He woke when he heard the gunshots and fought Brentlinger for control of the gun. Two more shots were fired, but neither hit Kyle.

A total of six shots were fired during the incident, and Brentlinger escaped. Brentlinger was found Monday in south Reno. After a short standoff, Brentlinger killed himself.
