Search For Suspect Continues in Carson City Shooting

Posted: Updated:

The Carson City Sheriff's office is looking for the suspect, who is said to be armed and dangerous, after a deadly shooting that happened early Saturday morning.

Detectives believe the shooting is the result of a domestic conflict. The suspect at this time is 22-year-old Michael Dylan Brentlinger, who is believed to have shot his ex-girlfriend with a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun. They say he fled the scene in a 2002 white Chevrolet Cavalier with Nevada license plate 948-XAT.

According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, deputies responded to the shooting just before 6 a.m. in the 2800 block of Carmine Street in east Carson City.

When they arrived, deputies found a 19-year-old woman with a gun shot wound to her head. She was taken by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center. Deputies also found a man, identified as the woman's father, with a fatal gun shot wound.

They say Brentlinger was recently in custody in the Carson City Jail on charges relating to an assault alleged against the female victim in this case. Officials say the victim had a restraining order against Brentlinger.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office had centered its search at the Saint Gall Catholic Church on Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. They were able to track Brentlinger's cellphone to a location near the area, but not Brentlinger.

Sheriff Furlong says Brentlinger may be headed to Driggs, Idaho, where, according to his Facebook page, he had previously resided.

If anyone has seen this subject or his vehicle they are asked to contact the Carson City Sheriff's Office at 775-887-2013 or local law enforcement. You may also call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847-411 keyword: SW.
