Nevada Sales Up 6.1% in October

Taxable sales in Nevada climbed 6.1% in October over the same month last year, with most major sectors reporting gains.
 
A report released Tuesday by the Department of Taxation shows Nevada merchants sold $3.8 billion in goods in October on which the state collected gross sales and use tax revenues of $297.8 million. The tax revenues are up 3.5% compared with October 2012.
 
In Clark County sales were up 8.3% while sales in Washoe County jumped 9.2 percent.
 
Statewide, sales of vehicles and parts rose 7%. Sales of homes furnishings were up 8.6%, while general merchandise stores reported a nearly 3% gain.
 
Accommodations, a key indicator on the vitality of Nevada's tourism market, were up 25%. (AP)
