Several Gov't Offices to Close Because of Holidays

In observance of Christmas Day and New Year's Day, Sparks City Hall will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 and, Wednesday January 1, 2014.

This includes the Community Services Department and City Attorney's Office.

The Sparks Parks & Recreation Office (98 Richards Way) will be closed, including the Alf Sorensen Community Center (1400 Baring Blvd.) and the Larry D. Johnson Community Center (1200 12th St.).

The Sparks Municipal Court (1450 C Street) will also be closed.

The City of Sparks wishes all a Merry Christmas, joyous and safe holiday season, and a prosperous New Year.  Please do not drink and drive.

From Washoe County:

Most Washoe County offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and January 1 for the Christmas and New Year's holidays. The following will be closed:
* Administrative offices at the Washoe County Complex on Ninth Street in Reno
* Washoe County Senior Services facilities
* All Washoe County Libraries
* The Washoe County District Court
* The Washoe County District Attorney's Office

The following will be open: 
* The Washoe County Sheriff's Office reception/front desk
* The office of the County Clerk at the Washoe County Complex on Ninth Street and Wells Avenue in Reno will remain open throughout the holiday from 8 a.m. to midnight for the issuance of marriage licenses, fictitious firm name and notary bond filings, as well as property tax payments for the Treasurer's Office.

From the City of Reno

Reno City Hall and City Administrative Offices, as well as Reno Municipal Court, will be closed Wednesday, December 25, 2013, and Wednesday, January 1, 2014.

The McKinley Arts and Culture Center will also be closed on Christmas and New Year's Day. Otherwise, the offices will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center will close early, at 7 p.m., on Christmas Eve and 7 p.m. New Year's Eve.

The Neil Road Recreation Center will also close early, at 6:30 p.m., on Christmas Eve and 6:30 p.m. New Year's Eve.

The Rink on the River will be open during the holiday season weather permitting. You can find out more about rink hours and rates for skating and rental equipment on the City of Reno website, Reno.gov.

Even with City offices closed, residents can still visit Reno.gov and access the "Online Services" menu to pay parking tickets, sewer bills, court fees, register for classes, file a police report, or enter a service request for Reno Direct.

Additionally, the City of Reno will be partnering with the Silver Legacy Resort Casino on New Year's Eve. City crews will close Virginia Street from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. for fireworks and karaoke. Visit Reno.gov for event information and street closures.
