WCSD Student Athletes Excel in Fall Sports

Posted: Updated:

From the Washoe County School District:

As the fall sports season draws to a close, student athletes competing in a variety of sports are celebrating a number of achievements and honors at the regional and state levels.

At Reed High School, the football team was named the Northern Division I Regional Champions. Coach Ernie Howren praised his players' teamwork and perseverance in taking the school to the state championship game.

"I am so proud of the kids' effort this season," said Coach Howren. "Winning a regional championship for three straight years and a state semi-final game—Reed's first— was a huge accomplishment this season. It was fun to see the their hard work pay off."

At Spanish Springs High School, the girls' golf team was named Nevada State and Regional Division I Champions, and Katrina Prendergast was honored as individual regional and state champion.

"I'm very fortunate to have an amazing group of golfers that have won back-to-back state championships," said Coach Mike Bosco. "This year was especially rewarding as these young ladies also won the Academic State Championship. As a coach, you just can't ask for more from your student athletes."

Congratulations to all of our Washoe County student athletes for their many accomplishments this season:
