Reno Police Release Shooting Timeline, Identify Some Victims

Posted: Updated:

Reno police have released a timeline in connection with Tuesday's deadly shooting at a medical building across from Renown Regional Medical Center.

During a live press conference, Reno Police Deputy Chief Tom Robinson said that the original call came in at 2:05pm, and that officers arrived on scene within two minutes. They started a floor-by-floor search and found four victims on the third floor. Two of those victims suffered critical injuries and were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center. They remain in critical condition Wednesday morning.

At 2:20pm authorities locked down the Center for Advanced Medicine.

They say that the unidentified shooter entered the Urology of Nevada and fired a total of 5 shots before turning the 12-gauge shotgun on himself.

Police say Dr. Charles Gara Gholdoian was killed and female patient Shawntae Spears was injured. A third victim, a woman, doesn't want to be identified.

Authorities say about 40 people have so far been interviewed regarding the shooting.

Robinson said there were about 100 people in the Center for Advanced Medicine at Renown Regional Medical Center when the shooting happened.

The shooter's motives were not immediately known.
Robinson said the gunman didn't appear to be targeting people. But he said the incident didn't appear to be completely random, either.

The Center for Advanced Medicine B will be open according to hospital officials. For patients: if you have not heard from Renown, you may assume your appointment will occur as scheduled. If you have any questions contact your Renown provider. As for non-Renown healthcare practices in that building, patients and employees can contact those offices directly for an update.

Robinson said if anyone witnessed anything suspicious around that time to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or text your tip to 847411.
