High Speed Chase Leads from California to Verdi

Posted: Updated:

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers report that a high speed chase along Interstate 80 ended with an arrest in Verdi Friday afternoon.

Troopers say that California Highway Patrol saw a gray 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck speeding, and attempted to pull the driver over. Instead of stopping the truck took off, leading to a high speed chase.

NHP was called to assist, and set up stop sticks just east of the state line. As the fleeing driver drove over the sticks, at least one tire was flattened and the truck stopped in the center of the free near mile marker 3 outside of Verdi.

The driver of the car has been identified as 23-year-old Wendy Parish of Grass Valley, California. Investigators say Parish appeared to be under the influence of drugs and did not possess a driver's license. She was placed under arrest and taken to the Washoe County Detention Facility. She is charged with DUI Drugs, driving without a valid license, and attempting to elude a police officer. Her bail is set at over $25,000 dollars. Several traffic related charges are expected to be filed in California as well.
