Car Crash Sets Home on Fire, Hospitalizes Driver

Posted: Updated:

According to Sparks Police, a car crashed into a home late Friday evening, hitting a gas line and causing a fire that severely damaged the building.

Police say that around 8:42 p.m. Jessie Hobson was driving her gold Ford minivan, when she suffered a "medical episode" and lost control, crashing the car into a home in the 1700 block of I Street.

The gas line of the home was broken in the crash and a fire started, causing significant fire and smoke damage.  Hobson's boyfriend, who had been following her car in a separate vehicle, rescued her from the wreckage. She suffered a minor burn and smoke inhalation, and has been hospitalized for treatment.

A small family lives in the damaged home, but was away when the crash occurred.
