Reno Mayor Bob Cashell and Sparks Mayor Geno Martini teamed up with Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada and the St. Vincent's program to give food to the less fortunate Wednesday morning.
It's all part of the annual "Feeding Families Food Drive"- a food drive that targets families in need with children.
Organizers say events like these are important, because they give hope to families going through hard times.
"It's just a big deal. To get them out here, along with people and just change their attitude, make it real positive," says Scott Cooksley.
This year's food drive was so successful, organizers were able to give away over 2,000 holiday food baskets - or roughly 85,000 pounds of food.
