With a great line up of local artisans selling a wonderful variety of items in time for Christmas, the Nevada Historical Society will host History for the Holidays open house 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14. The annual event promotes local partners who offer unique gifts including leather, photography, blown glass, wood products, pottery, knitted accessories and art. The event also features six local authors selling their latest Nevada books. Admission is free.
History for the Holidays was originally a Christmas wreath fundraiser for the Society. Over the past five years, the event evolved into an opportunity to buy one-of-a-kind gifts from local Nevada artists. The museum will offer a 20% discount on most store merchandise. Family activities include kids crafts, musical entertainment, refreshments and free admission to the galleries. Adding to the festivities this year, the Galena High School Carolers performfrom noon to 2 p.m.throughout the Society and Father Christmas makes a special guest appearance of from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The Nevada Historical Society is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Research Library is openWednesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at 1650 N.
