The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority announced today the 2013 U.S. Sports Congress will be held at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino from December 9-11, 2013. The three-day event will bring more than 140 senior level representatives from amateur sports organizations and governing bodies, as well as industry suppliers and competing destinations, to Reno Tahoe USA.

"We are delighted to welcome the U.S. Sports Congress, and we are grateful for being selected as the host destination," said RSCVA President and CEO Christopher Baum. "Reno Tahoe USA excels in catering to diverse sporting events of varying sizes, and having the key decision makers here presents an opportunity to further expand our profile in this industry."

Representatives from USA Track and Field, USA Cycling, USA Gymnastics and other governing bodies under the umbrella of the United States Olympic Committee will also be in attendance.

Jon Killoran, CEO of the Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition echoes the importance of hosting sports industry conferences and meetings throughout the region.

"In pursuing our future Winter Games aspirations, we have spent years cultivating and nurturing relationships with sports industry stakeholders throughout the world," said Killoran. "Having them hold their conferences and meetings here in an enjoyable and productive manner should lead to growing opportunities to bring high-level sports competitions to Reno Tahoe when they see all we have to offer."

The U.S. Sports Congress will include a trade show, professional development sessions and off-site activities designed to showcase regional amenities to new and repeat visitors.
