Reno Fire, TMFPD Meet on Mutual Aid Response

Posted: Updated:

Two area fire agencies say they'll meet later this month to discuss how to effectively mutually respond to area fires.

The disagreement arose after a fire at a home on Hidden Valley Drive last Saturday.

A Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District crew arrived on scene after seven minutes but as the fire grew- mutual aid from Reno and Sparks wasn't requested for another 20 minutes.

Both sides met on Thursday along with State Senator Ben Kieckhefer (R) and reached a consensus over when and how mutual aid can be made saying "this consensus will ensure that mutual aid may be provided to the citizens of each jurisdiction in the most efficient manner possible. The entities have agreed to meet again later this month to discuss any modifications to the mutual aid agreement that may be appropriate to best serve the citizens of our community."
