Salvation Army Donations Down 35% in Carson City

Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army of Carson City is just a week and a half into its Red Kettle Campaign and says donations are down dramatically.

The Salvation Army says donations have dropped 35% from last year. They rely on them to serve more than 17,000 people in Carson City, Dayton and Douglas County each year.

This year they've already had 1,500 children register for holiday help this season.

All money raised in the red kettles stay in the communities where they're collected.

Carson City Salvation Army's Red Kettle locations:
Carson City: Wal-Mart, Raley's, Smith's, all three Save-Marts, JC Penneys, Office Depot, Big Lots, Walgreens, Marshals, all three Jack in the Boxes, Mom and Pops, Villa Basque, Qdoba, Dennys, and Buffalo Wild Wings.
Dayton: Smith's and Jack in the Box.
Gardnerville: Raley's, Smith's, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and Jack in the Box.
