From The Salvation Army of Carson City:
The Salvation Army of Carson City is in need of turkeys for needy families.
Each year hundreds of needy families depend on The Carson City Salvation Army for their Thanksgiving Dinner. Agencies such as FISH, Ron Wood, Douglas County Food Bank, Tahoe Community Food Bank, and Washoe Valley Food Bank also receive turkeys from The Salvation Army to help with needy clients. This has been made possible for the past 14 years by Mike's Pharmacy of Carson City who has planned their 15th annual Turkey Round Up this coming Friday from 6:AM until 6:PM.
Last weekend several local taverns helped with a Battle of the Bars Turkey Drive that has given us a kick start on this holiday. Ed's Doghouse, the Whiskey Tavern and Twisted Spoke, collected 91 turkeys. Ed's Doghouse collected 61 alone! This is a great start for the season, but 1400 more turkeys are needed to meet the need of all the families that have registered for help.
Donors who wish to help can bring frozen turkeys to the Turkey Round Up at Mike's Pharmacy this Friday, November 22nd. Mike's Pharmacy is located at 1007 North Curry St. Carson City, NV. If you are unable to bring a turkey donations can be made by credit card by calling Mike's at 775-841-1400 between 6:AM and 6:PM on the day of the Round Up.
