Northern Nevadans Wait in Line For Playstation 4 Midnight Release

Posted: Updated:

Many people across the country have been looking forward to the next generation gaming console. Northern Nevadans waited in line Thursday night into Friday morning to get their hands on a Playstation 4.

The Best Buy in Reno brought out a few dozen people.

"A lot of it is just like Black Friday," said Brandon Willmott, a manager at Best Buy. "We obviously have a pre-order line and a non-pre-order line."

He says the pre-orders quickly sold out.

"All the stores have done a ton of pre-orders for these guys," Willmott said. "So, it's been really good for us."

"When I went to pre-order, I was unable to do it," said Michele Brown, visiting from the Bay Area. "I know I'd have to come camp out and stand in line all day. Been here since 12-noon."

On top of the pre-orders, there's a limited amount of consoles that were set aside to buy on the spot. People in line looked forward to the PS4's different features.

"I love the games that it's going to have," Brown said. "I love the controller. I love the graphics, and the design. It just looks really cool."

"Probably the remote play where you can be playing a game on the Playstation 4, and almost be able to play any game on it," said Manuel Flores of Reno.

"I like the sharing where you can make videos because I've never really had a capture card," said Anthony Gutierrez of Reno. "I always kind of wanted to do YouTube stuff."

The console wars between Sony and Microsoft began with the release of the PS4 ($399). The lines will continue with the release of the X-Box ($499) One on Friday, November 22nd.

Analysts predict both consoles will be hot sellers this holiday season, with as many as 5 million units expected to be purchased before January.

"Obviously, the X-Box One is a huge one as well," Willmott said. "You got your customers that love both systems. The upgrade in graphics from the X-Box One to the 360 and the PS3 to PS4 are amazing. They're really going to be the hub for everybody's entertainment. So, it'll really be awesome for them."
