Nevada Loses Opener to Pacific

Nevada (0-1) lost its season opener 80-78 to Pacific (1-0) on Friday night at Lawlor Events Center.

The Wolf Pack plays its next three games on the road starting Tuesday at Cal Poly.  Nevada is at San Francisco on Nov. 15 and at Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 18.

Head coach David Carter is 74-58 in his fifth season leading the Wolf Pack.

Senior point guard Deonte Burton made his 99th consecutive start and scored a game-high 23 points.  It was the 74th time he scored in double figures and 26th career game of 20 or more points.

Burton now has 1,482 career points moving past former teammate Malik Story's (2010-13) 1,476 career points into ninth.

Burton moved into eighth place in career assists with 376 passing Mike Mardian's (1974-76) 374.  He also tied Jimmy Carroll (1996-98) for sixth in three-pointers attempted with 397.

Senior Jerry Evans, Jr. was one rebound shy of a double-double finishing the night with 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Four Nevada players scored in double figures; Burton (23), Evans (13), Marqueze Coleman (12) and Michael Perez (11).

Perez, Ronnie Stevens, Jr., Lucas Stivrins and D.J. Fenner were all playing for the first time in the Silver & Blue.
