Authorities are figuring out what caused a driver to lose control of her sedan on I-80 near Boomtown, causing a traffic backup for about an hour.

Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers say 39-year-old Diana Beazell had just got onto the highway eastbound when she sideswiped a semi truck around 10am Thursday.

The semi truck driver pulled over.

Troopers say a three-year-old Pitbull named Napolean inside the sedan somehow got out and ended up on the freeway. He was not seriously hurt.

No other injuries were reported.

Eastbound traffic was backed up for about an hour as crews cleaned up the accident scene.

Troopers don't know yet if they will cite Beazell.
