Police Track Armed Robbery Suspects to Downtown Reno Motel

Posted: Updated:

Reno police have three people in custody after an armed robbery early Thursday morning. They were able to catch up to the suspects using an app on the victim's cell phone.

Around 4am, police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the area of Virginia Street and Gentry Way.

Using the victim's help, officers tracked the suspects to the Horseshoe Motel on the corner of Lake and 5th Streets Downtown.

As a precaution SWAT members surrounded the motel and closed off part of 5th street until several people inside one of the room's surrendered.

"The nature of the case obviously it's an armed robbery with a firearm, for our safety and the public as well we do kind of send out the SWAT team on incidents like this," says Lt. William Rulla.

Police arrested 26-year-old Anthony Jacinto, 22-year-old Sage Strickland and 29-year-old Ryan Sims.

All are charged with robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery.
