On Wednesday, Jesse Hall Elementary School dedicated a new mural created to honor Native-American diversity in our community.
Artists Steve Nighthawk and Jake Moody created the mural in the main hallway of the school. It depicts the Shoshone, Paiute, and Washoe Tribes of Nevada.
Nighthawk says he hopes the mural will help students spread appreciation of diversity while out in the community.
"Not just in the schools but when you're out because a lot of the features that we have you see every day and I think that's a starting point for education."
Jesse Hall serves the majority of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony so the mural was created to honor their heritage after a brainstorming session with members of the colony last summer.
