Reyes Family Sorry for Son's Actions at Sparks Middle School

Jose Reyes was just 12-years-old when he killed a teacher and injured two students, before taking his own life.

The shooting left two families with devastating losses that cannot be replaced.

Jose and Liliana Reyes are dealing with heartbreaking circumstances that no parent could ever imagine. We talked to them off-camera and as you would expect they say the last couple of weeks have been very tough to handle.

It's been almost two weeks since the Reyes family said goodbye to their only son. And Tuesday, his parents picked up Jose's ashes, and met with their priest. They say they don't know what caused the seventh grader to take a gun to school wounding two boys and killing Michael Landsberry, a well-liked math teacher.

The Reyes' have expressed remorse for the families impacted by this tragedy and apologized for the actions of their son -- while dealing with their own personal loss. They've been trying to get their lives back to normal running their Sparks restaurant.

And while they say nothing can bring their son back, they hope they can use this experience to help other families and try to prevent anymore incidents like this one from happening.

We also spoke to the attorney for the Reyes family. He is handling all media requests and we hope to bring you their interview with Wednesday.

    In his first collegiate start, freshman Jake Jackson dominated on the mound to help lead Nevada (1-2) to an 8-1 victory over UC Irvine (2-1) on Sunday afternoon. The Wolf Pack recorded eleven hits on the day. Jackson (1-0) earned the win in his first career college start, finishing with only three hits allowed and five strikeouts through six shutout innings.
