St. Vincent's Collecting Christmas Stockings for Children In Need

Catholic Charities & the St. Vincent's Programs is now asking community members for donations of pre-filled Christmas stockings for the children (ages 0-17) served by our nine unique human needs programs. We will distribute the stockings at our ninth annual "Operation: Stocking Stuffer" holiday party at our St. Vincent's Dining Room on Friday, December 20th 2013 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. The stockings will go to local children whose parents cannot afford to buy them presents this year. Many of the children we serve are either homeless, in low income housing complexes, or residing temporarily in local motels. At last year's event, we gave out more than 650 stockings.

Supplies needed include:

We are asking for pre-filled, age and gender neutral Christmas stockings filled with toys, treats, etc. for the children served by the St. Vincent's Programs. We will be distributing stockings to the following age groups:

Infant – Age 2: Blanket & Stuffed Animal
Age 3 – 5: Toys & Treats
Grades 1 – 3: Toys & Treats
Grades 4 – 6: Toys & Treats
Age 13 – 17: Scarf set, Toiletries, Gift Cards

The donation deadline is Friday, December 13th, 2013. Stockings can be dropped off at our St. Vincent's Thrift Shop at 500 East Fourth Street (corner of Valley & 4th) in Reno, Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can also donate items/gifts/candy/etc. to be put into stockings, as well as cash donations to be used toward stocking purchases. Please do not wrap the items placed inside the stockings. If you are donating stockings, please label each with gender and age group, if applicable.
