If there were a word for this weekend I'd say it is elegance. Because much of what's on tap for the weekend will make you feel elegant...and think of elegance. That goes for the Annual Fantasies in Chocolate event at the Grand Sierra Resort. The theme of that black-tie event is A Night in Paris. It's Saturday night. And an art exhibit in town extolling the elegance of Italy will make you think of great opera singers. It's at Arte Italia in Reno and 14 world renowned photographers have 49 photographs of Italy's elegance on display.  Enjoy!

 

Friday 11/1

Arte Italia:

UNESCO Italia is a photographic celebration of Italy and its architecture and its artistic treasures. Some of the world's most valuable sites for cultural historical and creative importance are displayed here in Reno at 442 Flint Street.

Saturday 11/2

Community bulb planting at Wilbur D. May Center, 10am-noon

The community is invited to take part in planting hundreds of daffodils with the May Center from 10-noon. It's a great lesson in planting today for a spectacular display of color next spring.

Fantasies in Chocolate, Grand Sierra Resort, 6pm

This decadent annual event matches champagne, gourmet food and the most marvelous chocolate desserts you can imagine. This year's theme is A Night in Paris. And it's all for a good cause…the money goes to the Reno Gazette-Journal Foundation that gives to those in need in our community.

Silver Bells Christmas Craft Fair, Carson Community Center

The community center in Carson City will be transformed into a Christmas Crafts Fair Saturday to help get everyone in the mood and headed for Christmas.

Sunday 11/3 

College Fair, University of Nevada, noon-4pm

Reno Sparks is declaring this next week Go To College Week and they are holding a college fair at the Joe Crowley Student Union on Campus. You can meet with representatives from 100 different colleges and universities.

Run for Education at Scheel's, 6:30 am

This annual run gets local school kids active and raises money to help with physical education in the Washoe schools. Packet pick-up starts at 6:30am, with the actual run starting at 8am.

Street closures will be in effect starting at 7:30am and ending around 10:15am. The run will start at Legends and utilize the south bound lanes of Sparks Boulevard from Baring Boulevard to East Lincoln. South bound Sparks Boulevard will be closed to motorists, and alternative route will be Vista Boulevard.
