Lyon Deputies Say Tampered Candy "Single Incident"

Posted: Updated:

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says they have no other incidents of tampering after a foreign object was found inside some candy on Halloween night.

Deputies received a report of a push-pin inserted into candy on Thursday night in the Southwest Meadows area near Fernley High School.

Deputies say after an investigation of 13 homes, they found no evidence that any candy was tampered with - and say it's possible a third party could have tampered with the candy.

Deputies stress it was a single incident that happened and say there are no other reports of tampered candy.

If you have any information on this incident, you're asked to call Lyon County dispatch at 775-463-6620 and speak to Deputy Wayne Hawley.

Deputies say the incident serves as a reminder to all parents to check their children's candy before allowing them to eat it.
