From Draper Strategies and Communications:

On Friday, Nov. 1, several of northern Nevada's top musicians and bands will come together to pay tribute to Master Sergeant Michael Landsberry, the revered teacher and coach who was killed in last week's tragic shooting at Sparks Middle School in Sparks, Nev. "A Hero Sung: A Benefit Concert to Honor Master Sergeant Michael Landsberry" will be held in the Grand Theatre at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) in Reno at 7 p.m. and will feature a talented lineup of some of the region's most well-known musical bands, including Lavish Green, Crush and Knowledge Lives Forever. Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $15 with all of the proceeds going directly to Master Sergeant Landsberry's wife and two daughters. For more information, visit www. https://www.facebook.com/events/700133763330070/.

"While last week's terrible events deeply affected this community and directly impacted the lives of so many people and it's important that we appropriately grieve and remember, it's equally essential that we heal as a community and celebrate the acts of heroism, selflessness and ultimate sacrifice that were on display," said Chari Smith, Landsberry family friend and member of Knowledge Lives Forever. "This event not only raises badly-needed funds for Master Sergeant Landsberry's family, it provides an opportunity to show the resolve and resiliency that our area has shown repeatedly in the face of devastating adversity."

Joining Knowledge Lives Forever, Crush and Lavish Green, will be northern Nevada regulars, Bazooka Zoo, Eric Anderson, Joel Ackerson, Lucas Young, Lacey Mattison and a special performance from the popular performance group, The Siren Society. GSR is donating the Grand Theatre, the world's largest stage, the audio/visual equipment and setup for the event. Further, GSR has announced they will donate part of the beverage proceeds from the evening's event to the Landsberry family. In addition to the top-notch entertainment lineup, several community leaders will join the Landsberry family during the event to remember and honor Master Sergeant Landsberry. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for a cash or check donation. For more information, call Mike Draper, Draper Strategies and Communications, at (775) 303-3252.

"A Hero Sung" comes in the aftermath of last week's shooting at Sparks Middle School, which resulted in the death of Master Sergeant Landsberry and the shooter, a 12-year-old student. Additionally, two other 12-year-old students were shot and are currently recovering. Landsberry, who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan as a member of the Nevada Air National Guard, died while confronting the shooter in attempt to protect students as classes were about to start. He leaves behind his wife, Sharon, and two stepdaughters. Master Sgt. Landsberry's memorial is set for this Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Sparks Christian Fellowship in Sparks at 3 p.m. and is open to the public.
A memorial fund has been established for the Landsberry family through the Nevada Military Support Alliance. All donors and contributors are asked to make all checks payable to the Nevada Military Support Alliance with the note "In Honor of Michael Landsberry" on the memo line.
