City of Sparks: Keep Leaves Out of Storm Drains

Posted: Updated:

As storms blow through our area, they're leaving behind a lot of leaves which have to be cleaned up. So, the City of Sparks is warning residents to do so safely.

The city says when leaves are left in piles and not properly bagged, they can end up clogging storm drains which can cause flooding when we get snow or rain.

Leaves also can go in the Truckee River through storm drains.

Sparks City ordinances require residents to properly dispose of leaves.

If you have concerns about storm drains in your neighborhood you can call the Sparks Public Works Department at 353-2271.
